Law School Forums

Now might be a good time to start to think about attending a Law School Forum!  Law School Forums, organized by the Law School Admission Council, are Pre-Law events that include workshops and representation from law schools and lots of information about the application process and law as a profession. They are nation-wide events, and there are only a few of them annually.  In the Northeast, there is one in both New York City (September 26th) and Boston, (September 29th). The LSAC Forum page has additional information.

Also, UB will have our very own Law School forum on October 2nd called “The Greater Western New York Law School Fair”. This will be an excellent way to meet law school representatives and find out more about the kinds of programs they have to offer, as well as other vital Law School information.  Every Pre-Law student is highly encouraged to attend!  To find out more, head over the workshops section.

Fields of Law - an Introduction

The Official Guide to Legal Specialties

Fields of Law is a nice page on the LSAC.org Web site that will introduce students to the variety of areas of practice in law. They also provide some interesting statistics, including the percentage of lawyers practicing in different sectors.

For something a bit more in-depth, I’d recommend “The Official Guide to Legal Specialties” showcased here to the right. I also have a copy of this book if anybody ever wants to borrow it.

Law in the Movies - an Amazon List

First week of classes are over with and it’s freezing cold outside. Many of you may be mainly interested in staying home and watching a good movie. Given “Law” is a common theme on this Web site ;), I thought I’d list a bunch of movies you might find interesting and fun.

I stumbled upon this Listmania “Law in the Movies” and looks like a pretty comprehensive list.
