Our mission is to assist University at Buffalo undergraduate students of all backgrounds in the discovery and development of their academic goals through advising. The advisors and staff of Student Advising Services interact with students in a variety of settings providing support and guidance to empower students to use the tools and resources available to become active and responsible learners. Our services are targeted toward students in transition, UB Scholars, and students interested in the Pre-Professional fields (pre-health and pre-law). We work with students to develop and implement individual plans for the purpose of attaining academic success and achieving life goals.
The staff of Student Advising Services helps shape campus-wide advisement objectives, policies, and initiatives aimed at improving student satisfaction and retention. The Student Advising Services staff is responsible for the coordination of specific support services to the campus-wide advising community.
Diversity Statement
The services that are offered by Student Advising Services are conducted with an appreciation for and awareness of the differences that certain populations of students bring to the university. We recognize that students may encounter unique challenges in higher education because of race, gender, age, social class, sexual orientation, and ability. Student Advising Services is committed to removing barriers that can prevent members of the underrepresented groups from completing their baccalaureate degree in a timely and efficient manner.
