Academic Major Selection
Declare your major by the time you complete 45 credit hours and ensure that your HUB Student Center is updated to reflect your Intended major. Your Major Explorers Advisor will connect you with your new academic advising office to ensure a smooth transition to your chosen academic program.
Make sure you understand all departmental pre-requisites, admission criteria and application deadlines to gain acceptance into your major, including access to take required upper level courses.
Consult with Faculty Mentors
Talk with faculty during office hours and after class. Ask how they chose their field and learn about internships or research opportunities in their department.
Develop an Academic Plan for Graduation
Meet with your academic advisor at least once a semester until you graduate to stay on track with your curricular plan. Continue to assess your academic goals, including taking steps to maximize your undergraduate experience.
Participate in Academic Clubs
Learn more about your field by joining a Student Association (SA) sponsored Academic Club. Clubs sponsor speakers, events, and allow you to network with faculty, professionals, and other students in your field.
Gain Career Experience Through Volunteering and Internships
Network with Professionals in Your Field
Join a professional organization and utilize Career Services to help engage with professional mentors in your field and to attend career networking events and workshops.
