Student Advising Services mission is to assist undergraduate students in the discovery and development of their academic goals through advising. We serve students in transition - those undecided about a major, those required to leave one major and choose another one, and those not yet pursuing a degree - non-matriculating students. Our center also directs the University Scholars Program and provides guidance to students planning to pursue careers in health and law. The services we provide include:

Academic advice and guidance for students - especially those who are undecided about an academic goal:

  • Academic advice - developing an academic plan, discussing degree requirements, understanding academic policies and their implications
  • Major exploration for undecided students
  • Finding a new major
  • Student Success Workshops
  • Helping students connect with UB learning and student services resources
  • Developing a plan for including internships and study abroad in a degree program
  • Evaluating alternative and military experiences for university credit

Special Program Services:

  • Home of University Scholars - academic planning (undecided students), special events and opportunities
  • Assist students who are preparing for admission to medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, veterinary, and chiropractic schools
  • Assist students who are preparing for admission to law school
