Student Advising Services mission is to assist undergraduate students in the discovery and development of their academic goals through advising. We serve students in transition - those undecided about a major, those required to leave one major and choose another one, and those not yet pursuing a degree - non-matriculating students. Our center also directs the University Scholars Program and provides guidance to students planning to pursue careers in health and law. The services we provide include:

- Academic advice - developing an academic plan, discussing degree requirements, understanding academic policies and their implications
- Major exploration for undecided students
- Finding a new major
- Student Success Workshops
- Helping students connect with UB learning and student services resources
- Developing a plan for including internships and study abroad in a degree program
- Evaluating alternative and military experiences for university credit
